Redesign the attorney-facing native app for answering legal questions.
WHY REDESIGN?
The existing app had both performance and stability issues because it didn’t have a dedicated team to maintain it over the years–it was old and tired. The UI felt out of step with the new brand system, and the key tasks were clunky.
DESIGN APPROACH
I conducted a feature audit and expert-review, then compared with any data that we could find.
PLANNING
Mapped out the areas of work and set priorities based on usage data + user interviews.
DESIGN APPROACH
With a small cross-functional team, we were able to work out intial flows and basic layouts on the whiteboard.

Detailed designs were worked out during sprints.
STREAMLINED TASKS
Swipe between questions to streamline the flow. Previously, users had to pogo-stick back to the inbox after viewing each question.
GESTURES
Added micro-interactions to provide confirmation of intended interaction.
RESULTS
Ratings increased from 1.5 to 4 (of 4) stars, and we had a stable design and code base that we could expand upon.
